The SC First Steps State Executive Director is responsible for: inspiring a staff of 60 full time administrative and technical assistance providers, encourage 46 local partnerships, collaborating with multiple private and public organizations serving children and their families, raising supplemental funds, and fiscally managing an annual budget over $41 million in local, state, and federal dollars used for fund research-based and high quality early childhood development and childcare quality enhancement programs offered by local partnerships in 46 counties, private 4K in 64 school districts, as well as early learning services at Early Head Start-Child Care Partnerships in 14 counties.

This position reports to: The SC First Steps Board of Trustees

This position requires the ability to: collaborate, co-operate, advocate, and facilitate with agencies, private providers, funders, as well as public and private organizations and entities to serve the early childhood educational needs of South Carolina’s children and their families.

The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree in management, administration or an educational area preferred. Knowledge in the field of early childhood development is necessary.    At least 5 years of increasingly responsible management experience in a human service program, with comparable work experience in senior-level management positions and comprehensive executive-level experience preferred.


Location: Columbia, SC
Salary Range: $115,000-$122,881

 The Clemson Child Development Center located in Clemson, SC has a opening for a lead teachers in the Infant Room and the Two-Year-Old room.  Preferred qualifications include an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.  A candidate can show proof of current school enrollment in lieu of the degree. The projected start date for these positions is August 2017.

The Clemson Child Development Center is also looking for a 4-year-old kindergarten teacher assistant.  Candidates must have completed Early Childhood Development (ECD) 101. The projected start date for this position is July 2017.
