The person in this position will promote the delivery of high quality developmentally appropriate infant/toddler education experiences that facilitate growth and development, support school readiness, and comply with Head Start Performance Standards, Early Learning Standards, licensing regulations, and Quality Initiatives. Conduct regular classroom observation, provide constructive feedback and support to teaching staff. Develop goals to strengthen teaching practices and improve child outcomes. Use tool and resources to guide teacher learning; including reading materials, modeling, videotaping, and reflective practices. Assist teaching staff incorporate parent input, individualization, Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals, and multicultural and multilingual support. Support teaching staff in implementing the Creative Curriculum, the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) and Ages and Stages Questionnaires:Social Emotional (ASQ:SE), and the ongoing assessment system Teaching Strategies Gold. Assess the quality of teacher-child interactions; assist teachers with planning and implementing strategies that will improve interactions. Attend training to stay informed on the best practices in the Early Childhood Education field.

Internal Title: 4K Regional Coordinator
External Title:  Education Associate

The person in this position will conduct ongoing monitoring, mentoring, and technical assistant visits to approved pre-kindergarten providers.  Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement plans required as a condition of participation in First Steps Pre-Kindergarten Program.  Conduct on-site evaluations of pre-kindergarten provider applicants.  Prepare and submit evaluation summaries to the Office of South Carolina First Steps.  Document all provider visits and feedback, and prepare communications as needed.  Coordinate with School Readiness Officer, South Carolina First Steps (SCFS) program and regional staff, as well as other agency partners as necessary to establish public-private 4K program guidelines, training, and monitoring structures.  Prepare training for Executive Directors and other statewide staff as appropriate.  Serve as a liaison between approved providers and local first Steps County Partnership.

Our Story: RCFS, a 501(c)3 organization, is one of 46 partnerships of SC First Steps to School Readiness, the state’s comprehensive early childhood education initiative founded in 1999. RCFS is supported by funding from the state, the federal government, grants, and private contributions and has an annual budget of $2M.

About the Position: The CEO is responsible for inspiring a staff of 38 full-time education and administrative staff, collaborating with multiple private and public organizations serving children and their families, raising supplemental funds and managing the budget.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with seven years’ experience in successfully developing and managing human services programs, or a master’s degree with four years’ experience in successfully developing and managing human services programs. The position requires the ability to be a leader in the community, supervise staff, manage budgets, generate funds, collaborate with diverse community groups, and communicate effectively.

Supervises:

Leadership Management Team consisting of Directors of Administration and Accountability, Early Care and Learning (ExCEL), Early Head Start, and other key staff

Location: Columbia, SC

Salary Range: $79,119-$101,733
